Enzyme Lists, Feature Libraries, Primer Libraries, and More

It’s a beta update - new features have arrived!

Enzyme Lists

Now you can keep the enzymes you frequently use in one list to tailor your restriction analysis to the sites you care about. Filter by enzyme lists from the restriction panel.

Feature Libraries and Auto-Annotation

Similar to Enzyme Lists, Feature Libraries let you maintain collections of common features - we’ve created a few to start you off, and you can easily import any of your existing ApE libraries.

You’ll notice a new Auto Annotate button in the annotations panel - press it to add matching annotations to the current sequence based on a feature library or a second sequence.

Primer Libraries and Find Primers

Last but not least, primer libraries are here! Keep your available primers organized in one spot, and find the ones that bind to your sequences.

Simpler Cloning Workflows

We’ve added a host of features to make cloning easier:

  • Primer3 integration via the primer panel and the right-click menu allows you to easily find pairs of primers for a selected region of interest.
  • Selecting a primer and shift-selecting a second one will select a region for PCR. Choosing Create Sequence from the right-click menu allows you to generate a new sequence from the current selection, taking overhang into account.
  • Cut-site markers visually guide restriction-based workflows.
  • For an in-depth guide, open any sequence and look for Sequence Construction in the help menu.

Virtual Gels

You can now view the results of your digests using interactive virtual gels.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! We have some major changes rolling out that we’re really excited about, so stay tuned.
