Find the right construct faster: Search by DNA or amino acid sequence

Amy Guan

We're excited to release a highly requested feature: searching your plasmids by DNA and amino acid sequence. Thousands of scientists store their plasmid and oligo collections on Benchling. Searching by sequence should make it easier to find the right construct, even if it's not annotated or named properly.

Try our powerful sequence search!

You can search by sequence, tag, and more by expanding the file browser:

  1. Click the gear icon next to the current location and select Expand.

  2. Click Add Filter at the top and select the DNA String or AA String option.

The DNA search supports degenerate bases. The amino acid search will return any DNA file that translates to the provided sequence.

We'll also be releasing support for editing and analyzing proteins in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
